My name is Marie Lagrange, and I am a painter and illustrator based in Haute-Saône, France. In my paintings, I enjoy exploring themes such as magic, spirituality, melancholy, fantastical characters and creatures, nature, plants, and especially trees: my favourite subject, thanks to their ever-changing shapes and forms, which almost give them a personality of their own. I have created a fantasy universe which I have named ‘the world of Vhoïdker’, and many of my paintings draw inspiration from this universe whilst also feeding into it.
I appreciate traditional techniques where water is an essential element, such as watercolour and ink. I like working with fairly vivid colour palettes, which lend a fantastical and dreamlike quality to my paintings. I also work in digital painting, depending on the project.
